SATURNIA GALLERY, Summer 2022

The Mancianese is one of the largest territories to make up the Grosseto Maremma, characterised by Etruscan-Roman archaeological sites, a millenary thermal spring of sulphurous water, medieval villages and agricultural excellence. However, the area has recently been hit by severe floods due to climate change, while there are frictions among citizens as to which strategies should be implemented in order to preserve their territory.

We invite artists to this place to create works of art that, through different media, identify and interpret the ecological challenges dictated by climate change, with a specific focus on how the effects of environmental transformations affect the Mancianese area as a whole, influencing habits, agricultural practices, infrastructural development, tourism, social policies, collective memory and cultural identities.
